Shelia Ann Maxson, 80, of Philippi, died Friday, March 28, 2025 at Mansfield Place Nursing Home following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease and dementia.
She was born January 10, 1945, in Philippi, WV, the daughter of the late Leland “Chip” and Dolly M. Robinson.
Surviving are three children, Mrs. Angelia Ann Maxson Russell (and husband Micah J. Russell) of Liberty, WV, Mrs. Stephani Dawn Mayle (and husband Boyd H. Mayle), of Moatsville, WV, Mr. Stephen S. “Thumper” Maxson, of Philippi, WV; one sister, Virginia Rose Isner, of Cleveland, OH; three grandchildren, BJ Mayle, Samantha Streets (and husband Cody Streets), and Maureen Russell; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Streets and Shaylynn Streets, and several nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her sister, June Lee Bush, of Half Moon Bay, CA.
Shelia was a nurse’s aide, housewife, grocery store worker, and case worker for the DHHR. She was an avid runner, and talented sketch artist throughout her life. After retirement, she enjoyed independent Bible study, country & gospel music, and caring for her wild and domesticated animal friends.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi, WV on Tuesday, April 1, from 5pm-8pm, and Wednesday, April 2, from 8am-1pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, at 1pm, with internment to follow at the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
