Shirley Corley

Shirley May Corley age 80 a resident of Union Community, Philippi passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Broaddus Hospital. She was born May 9, 1928 in Philippi, a daughter of the late Ivan and Gladys (Pitman) Daugherty. She was united in marriage May 21, 1946 to her husband of 62 years Milton “Bud” Corley who survives. Also surviving:

Four Daughters: Kathern and husband Dan Sterchak of Minden, NV
Patricia and husband Ken Shafer of Cortland, OH
Helma Ward of Las Vegas, NV
Marcia and husband Ted Armstrong of Leavittsburg, OH

9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren

Mrs. Corley was preceded in death by one brother, Maynard Daugherty and one son-in-law, Mark Ward.

Mrs. Corley moved to Warren, Ohio area in 1951, where she raised her family and worked at Packard Electric for 15 years and was a member of Bazetta Christian Church. Afterwards, moving home to WV in 1976.

She was a member of Union Church of Christ, the Sew and Sews quilting group, and the Union Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling and spending time with her husband, their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Corley’s request for cremation will be honored. There will be no visitation or services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Foundation or a Charity of your choice.
