She was born September 9, 1963 in Philippi a daughter of the late Herbert Junior and Shirley Mae (McGee) Simmons. Shirley was united in marriage on May 30, 1992 to Arell Keith Gordon who survives at home.

Shirley worked as a cashier for Heart and Hand Ministries and was also a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo, and was a member of the Hunter’s Fork Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday May 2, from 5-8 pm and on Wednesday May 3, from 8 am- 2 pm the service hour with Rev. Shirley Webster officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
