Virginia Florence Patterson, age 93, a resident of Volga, WV went home to be with the Lord on Thursday June 23, 2022 in the St. Joseph Nursing Care Facility in Buckhannon, WV. She was born April 9, 1929 at Suncrest, WV a daughter of the late Alva L. Bender and Florence L. (Ramey) Bender. She is survived by son, Randell Patterson, daughters, Karen Woofter and husband Mike, Kimberly Cross and husband Victor, Roberta Woody, Rebecca Patterson, Sherri Casto and husband Tom, and Darla Cosner. Grandsons Robert Woofter and Benjamin Casto, granddaughters, Jasmine Zickefoose and husband Brian, Audrey Cross, Jerica Carpenter and husband Bo, Tabitha Casto, great grandson, Matthew Walls, Garrett Zickefoose, great granddaughter Lexi Carpenter. Brother Leonard Bender, numerous nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by husband Morgan A. Patterson, son Gary Lynn Patterson, grandson John Morgan Smith, granddaughter Jessica Cosner, son-in-law Edwin Woody Jr.

Virginia was homemaker and a Baptist by faith. A loving mother and grandmother who will be sadly missed.

Honoring Virginia’s wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no services. A family memorial will be held at a later date.

Dear Family....We had the privilege of meeting Virginia around 8 years ago when we began a ministry on the 3rd floor of St. Joseph's. Each Friday we meet with the residents, play BINGO and then share a some scriptures and sing. Your mother quickly became a precious part of our ministry. It didn't take long to see that she had been a hard worker who was dedicated to her faith and family. We loved her determined spirit and the fact that she found joy in small things.....stuffed animals, outlandish glasses and necklaces and silly headbands. When we shopped for BINGO prizes we would see something and think....Virginia will like this! She listened intently to the Word and sang those beloved hymns. We could see that she was failing as she struggled to do what had once came easy for her. We rejoice for what she is now experiencing in her heavenly home and pray for the loved ones she leaves behind. She will forever remain a precious memory in our lives. Pastor Ed and Janet McDaniels
