Virginia Elizabeth Landis, age 90, a resident of Volga, WV passed away Monday June 17, 2013 in the United Hospital Center. She was born April 2, 1923 at Hall in Barbour County a daughter of the late Dorsey French and Osie Pearl (Dean) Champ. She was united in marriage April 25, 1942 to John William Landis who preceded her in death on July 20, 1999. Surviving are

Hilda Elizabeth Meixsell and husband Mike of East Brady, PA
One sister; Madeline Robinson of Buckhannon
Nine grandchildren; Ramona Nicole Davis, Theresa Kay Ritter, Tracy Ellen Young, Charles Craig Horner, Berrae Meixsell, Pam Thomas, Gail Machella, Michele Utterback, Michael Meixsell
26 great grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren
Mrs. Landis was preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers, one grandson, and one great-grandson. She retired from Barbour Produce with 26 year’s service. She was a member of the Moose Lodge #319 chapter in Buckhannon, the Queen’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Volga. Mrs. Landis enjoyed playing Bingo, quilting, and spending time with her family.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday June 19, at 2 pm in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Speaker Lewis Bartlett officiating. In honor of Mrs. Landis’s request flowers are to be omitted and in lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to a charity of your choice.
