Walter Felix “Poodle” Lach, age 85, a resident of Rt. 1 Volga passed away Wednesday June 2, 2010 in Davis Memorial Hospital. He was born August 31, 1924 in Century a son of the late Felix and Mary (Maziekien) Lach. He was united in marriage on July 13, 1963 to Eleanor R. (Criss) Lach who survives. Also surviving;
Two sons; Tim and wife Annette Lach
Scott Lach
Two grandsons; Jeremy and Luke Lach all of Volga
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by three brothers; Edward, Joseph, and Donald Lach, one sister; Frances Hill.
He was a corporal on the United States Marine Corp serving in WWII, and was a member of the Marine Corp League. He was a coal miner and a member UMWA District # 31, and Local 4172. He was an avid gardener and Catholic by faith.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday June 4, from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday June 5, from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. the service hour. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with military honours being accorded.
