Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by one son; Calvin Carpenter, one sister; Avis Couger, and one brother; Doyle Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter was a retired coal miner and was a carpenter for Z & C Construction. He enjoyed gardening and squirrel hunting, looking for ginseng, and loved the outdoors. Mr. Carpenter was a member of the Corley United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Tuesday June 11, from 4-8 pm and on Wednesday June 12, from 8-11 am the service hour with Rev. David Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
