Charles Floyd Williamson

Charles Floyd Williamson, age 77, a resident of Philippi, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

Charles was born on June 20, 1948, in Barbour County, a son of the late Charles W. Williamson and Luellen (Jack) Garlow. On September 21, 1968, he was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Lucy S. (Moats) Williamson, who survives.

He retired from the United States Postal Service after many years of dedicated service. Charles enjoyed golfing, watching all sports—especially NASCAR—and taking trips with his wife, including visits to their cabin in Harman. He was a member of the Barbour Country Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles Michael Williamson and wife Wendy of Beckley, Mark Allen Williamson and Laura Fitzwater of Philippi; grandchildren, Moira Williamson of Memphis, Tennessee, and Kaitlynn Williamson of Morgantown; siblings, Jimmie Williamson and wife Karla of Magnolia, Ohio, Susan Stutler and husband John of Galloway, and Beth Bolyard and husband Donnie of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at Wright Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory, 220 N. Walnut Street, Philippi, on Thursday, April 9, from 4:00–8:00 PM and on Friday, April 10, from 9:00–10:00 AM. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel with Fr. Babu Joseph officiating. Charles will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery.
