Charles Ricky “Rick” Lantz, 67, of Philippi, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at the WV Caring Hospice Facility in Elkins, West Virginia.
Rick was born on September 1, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late Kyle Richard Lantz I and Harriet Isabell Murphy Lantz.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Geneva Lynn (Zirkle) Lantz. Also surviving are his children: Kyle Richard Lantz II and wife Katrina; Broderick James Hinkle and companion Alexandria Herron; Ricky Ray Lantz and companion Heather Summerfield; Levi Dalton Lantz and wife Jennifer; Casey Allen Molihan and companion Kasey Myers; RJ Schroeder and wife Courtney; and Shasta Tenney and husband Dustin.
Rick was a proud grandfather to Lil Kyle Lantz, Callea Hinkle, Maddix Hinkle, Maverick Hinkle, Nash Hinkle, Leviticus Lantz, Adelaide Lantz, Novian Lantz, Bristol McCrary, Easton McCrary, Zayden Lantz, Nicholas Queen, Madison Cutright, Landon Westfall, and Teagan Mattison. He is also survived by his brother, Tony Mayle; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Zirkle; his special feline companion, Winer; and his faithful K-9 companion, Zoe.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Lantz; his sister, Judy Nelson; and his father-in-law, Theodore “Ted” Zirkle.
Rick proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Throughout his life, he worked in a variety of occupations and was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He was an avid Cleveland Browns fan who enjoyed cheering on his team, taking side-by-side rides, and spending time outdoors. Above all, Rick treasured the time he spent with his children and especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Rick will be remembered for his love of family, his loyalty to friends, and the many memories he created with those who knew and loved him.
