Doris Lee Payne

Doris Lee Payne, age 92, a resident of Philippi, passed away Monday May 2, 2022 in St. Joseph’s Hospital. Doris was born November 15, 1929 a daughter of the late William Bill and Sara Helen (Talbott) Stalnaker. Doris was untied in marriage to Hershel “Red” Payne who preceded her in death April 15, 2016. Surviving are children, Tim Payne and wife Jan, Jill Marsh and husband Dennis, Terry Payne and wife Robin, Brenda Currence and husband David, Amy Mick and husband Travis, nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, four great great- grandchildren, brother, Jerry David Stalnaker Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson, Timothy Scott Payne, great grandchild David Austin Currence, brothers, Bill and Danny Stalnaker, and sister Jean Love. Doris was a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and in earlier years enjoyed swimming, and she loved to dance, sing and play the guitar. A graveside service will be held on Thursday May 5, at 1 pm at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Charles Madaus officiating. Interment will follow.
