James G. Murphy, age 75, a resident of Rt. 4 Philippi passed away Friday April 20, 2012 at his residence. He was born May 25, 1936 in Barbour Co. a son of the late Robert and Beulah (Salisbury) Murphy. He was united in marriage on August 22, 1958 to Janice (Anderson) Murphy who survives at home. One daughter: Angela Joy Phillips and husband Jeff of Belington
One sister: Pauline Henry of Volga
Two brothers: John Murphy and wife Evelyn
Pat Murphy and wife Louise both of Philippi
Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by two brothers: Perry and Ray Murphy, three sister: Alice Hart, Nina Peters, Josephine Winans.
He worked for Laurel Run Mines, Badger Coal, and Sentinel Mines as a cut machine operator and roof bolter. He served in the US Army and attended the Jerusalem United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday April 23, from 11 am - 1pm the service hour with Rev. Tim Bleigh officiating. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem Cemetery with military honours being accorded.







it breaks our heart that this special friend jim has moved on. he was a great person and my husband thought alot of him. we will miss seeing him sitting on the porch and down checking his mail. god has a special angel with him now.
