Jerry Lynn Newman

Jerry Lynn Newman, age 70, a resident of Philippi, passed away Monday April 15, 2024, in Ruby Memorial Hospital. Jerry was born September 27, 1953, in Barbour County, a son of the late Harold and Vietta (Croston) Newman. Jerry was united in marriage on February 23, 1977, to Sarah Ann (Croston) Newman who preceded him in death on August 28, 2014. Jerry worked at Kines Motor as a mechanic, and also worked at the Barbour County Senior Center. He enjoyed working on cars and lawn mowers, anything mechanical. He also enjoyed mowing grass and spending time with his family. Surviving are children, Tabitha Cain and husband Cinden, Benji Newman and wife Jennifer; grandchildren Joseph, Alexis, Autumn, Olivia, and JJ; brothers Dewyne Newman and wife Zonia of OH, and Ricky Newman and wife Hitomi of NC; and several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Vietta Newman; wife Sarah; sister Patricia Kennedy; grandparents Joseph and Maybell Croston. Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday April 18, from 5-8 pm and on Friday April 19, from 10am- 12 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm with Pastor Randy Montgomery officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
