Matthew Vaughn Lake age 46 a resident of S. Walnut St. Philippi lost his two year battle with cancer on Thursday, April 18, 2013. He was born March 24, 1967 in Philippi a son of Cecil L. and Freda (Wagner) Lake who survive. Also surviving is:
One daughter, Jessica D. Barb, Belington
One son, Jamie M. Lake, Philippi
Two sisters, Cecilia L. Lake and companion Phil Haller
Sunny Lake, both of Philippi
Two grandchildren, Orion D. Barb and Caley Holmes
Two special nephews, Jeremy and Jason Lake
Two nieces, Cyndi Mayle and Suzanne Hollen
Two great-neices, Avah and Taylor
One great-nephew, Brodie
Matthew enjoyed photography, camping and attending Bridge Day
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 6-8 pm and on Sunday, April 21, 2013 from 8 am-2 pm the service hour with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Entombment will be in the Bryan Memorial Mausoleum at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.







Words can't begin to express the sorrow in my heart at the loss of our beloved Matt. I know he definitely fought a courageous battle for the last two years, and hope that all who knew him helped him in any way they could. Freda and Cecil, you will be in my prayers for comfort during this time as will be Sunny, Cecilia, and his son and daughter and grandchildren.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Matthew's family!! He has been on our minds all day as we remembered his quick smile and spontaneous wit! It was a pleasure to have known him and we are greatly saddened by his passing.
Matt was our neighbor at one time there on walnut st, he was such a very nice, and caring person. Our thoughts and prayers r with all of his family, may God get u thru this, and may he comfort u in your bad times, our prayer is for God 2 b with all of u in the days, weeks, and months ahead, God bless all of u.

My condolences to the family. It was a pleasure working with Matt and having him as a friend. He will be thought of many times. May he rest in peace in God's arms.
This is such a sad time. My deepest sympathies go out to Matts' family in this time of sorrow. My prayers are for everyone to make it through this time remembering the awesome person that he was and will forever be in our hearts. He had this infectious smile that could make everyones day better. He made the world a better place to live it. He will truly be missed.
