Catherine Jane Lewis, age 72, a resident of Elkins passed away Thursday November 9, 2023 in St. Jospeh’s Hospital in Buckhannon. Catherine was born April 20, 1951 in Parsons, WV a daughter of the late Briston O’Dell and Erna Jean (Peddar) Moore. Catherine was united in marriage to her husband of 24 years James “Jim” Lewis who survives.
Also surviving are children; Kenneth Allen Severe Jr. , Dannell Severe, Donna Sue Riner and husband Kasey, Ryan Eugene Severe; step-children James Floyd Lewis and wife Rhonda, Larry Lee Lewis and wife Anna, Rebecca Pearl Edmonson and husband Kevin; siblings Roger Moore and wife Teresa, Jan Morgan, Twila Matlick and husband Doward, Mary Murray, Donna Staggs and husband Terry, Rhonda Dumire; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Catherine was preceded in death by parents Briston and Erna Moore; daughter, Shirley Lea Bowman; sister, Leona Marsh; brother Ron Moore.
Catherine enjoyed hunting with her husband, reading especially Amish books, watching westerns and liked to sing. In earlier years she attended the Pifer Mountain Methodist Church and more recently she attended New Beginnings Church in Moatsville. Catherine loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-Site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Monday November 13, from 3-8 pm and on Tuesday November 14, from 9- 11 am. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Pifer Mountain Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.
