Dora Lea Beckner

Dora Lea Beckner, age 98, a resident of Hilltop Dr. Philippi passed away Tuesday March 14, 2023 in Ruby Memorial Hospital. Dora Lea was born February 28, 1925 in Barbour County, WV a daughter of the late Jerome and Dana (Gaynor) Stalnaker. She was united in marriage on November 8, 1946 to Ralph L. Beckner, who preceded her in death on November 7, 2008.
Surviving are one daughter, Ralphene Moore and husband Gary of Philippi, one son, David Beckner and wife Leslie Mehl of Canaan Valley; one sister, Mary Lou Wagner of Philippi; three grandchildren, Stephen Boni, Ian Beckner and wife Dena of Oakland Md., and Hannah Beckner and fiancé Justin Hovatter of Bozeman, Montana; four great-grandchildren, Kinzie, Hazel, Torin, and Lark.
Dora Lea was preceded in death by one brother, Leland Stalnaker, and one sister Helen Griffith. Mrs. Beckner retired from the Barbour Department Store where she ha worked for many years. Dora Lea was a member of the Crim Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved being with her family, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her much joy.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and onsite Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday March 18, from 10am- 12 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 pm with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Crim Memorial United Methodist Church 78 Pike St. Philippi, WV 26416.
