Frank Upton

Franklin D. Upton, age 90, passed away on July 5^th, 2023, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights Ohio. He was born February 21, 1933, in Philippi, West Virginia to the late Lon and Blanche Upton.

Frank was the beloved husband of Georgia Upton, (nee Gelhausen), for 67 years, loving father to Nicholas D. Upton, (Tamyra), and Linda D. Walsh, (John). Proud grandfather to Heather, Christopher, Adrian and Nicholas, caring great-grandfather to Brooklyn, Benjamin, and Bryce.

He was proceeded in death by his brothers, Lon Jr., Wilber, Ira Delma, Russell, Robert, Dorsey, Dever, Thomas Lee, and his sisters, Martha, Evelyn, Francis, Jean and Lorrain.

Frank was a proud member of the United States Marine Corp. serving with honor from 1953 to 1956.

After his tour of duty, he moved his family to Cleveland Ohio, and in 1961 to Willowick Ohio.

Frank worked in the auto industry for many years with General Motors, Towmotor Corp. and later retiring with Caterpillar Corp. where he was a member of the United Auto workers Union.

He was heavily involved with the Lake County Marine Corp Honor Guard in Lake County Ohio, where he would volunteer his tome to honor his fellow servicemen at their funerals, along with the Toys for Tots and Rose programs. His selfless spirit and generosity towards others will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held on September 2^nd, 2023 at Wright Funeral Home and Crematorium, 220 North Walnut Street, Philippi, WV, 26416 with visitation and fellowship of family and friends from 9:00AM to 11:00 AM with Memorial Service commencing at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.

Inurnment of his ashes to occur later with a private ceremony, date, and time yet to be determined by family members.
