Gary Saffle age 70 a resident of Carrollton Rd. Buckhannon passed away on Monday, April 18, 2016 in United Hospital Center. He was born March 19, 1946 in Buckhannon, WV a son of the late Milton Edward and Edna Lucille (Cool) Saffle. He was united in marriage July 1, 1989 to Agnes Virginia (Daugherty) Saffle who preceded him in death December 10, 2015. Surviving is,
one step-daughter, Mandy Price and husband Derek Michaletz of Buckhannon
two sons, Jim Saffle and wife Linda of Sandwich, MA
Edward Saffle of Cincinnati, OH
two brothers, John Saffle and wife Jo of Volga
Terry Saffle and wife Luella of Audra Park
five grandchildren
Mr. Saffle worked as an aircraft mechanic for American Airlines and was the owner/operator of Saffle Construction.
Mr. Saffle served in the U.S. Army from 1964-1967 during Vietnam Conflict, he was a crew chief on a helicopter for the First Air Calvary and was a paratrooper. He was stationed at Fort Benning, Fort Gordon, Fort Knox and Fort Rucker.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #29, VFW Post #410, Belington Lodge #125 and Moose Lodge #948 in Charlestown, WV
He was Baptist by Faith.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 5-8 pm and on Friday, April 22, from 8am–1 pm the service hour with Speaker Ernie Daugherty and Speaker Lloyd Shockey officiating. Military honors will be accorded. In honor of Gary’s request, cremation will follow the services on Friday.
