Gene Emmett Baker age 93 a resident of Philippi passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Mountain Living Community Assisted Living. He was born April 11, 1930 in Clarksburg a son of the late Emmett Lee and Armenia (Swiger) Baker. He was united in marriage to Jennis Joann (Haskins) Baker on June 3, 1950 who preceded him in death March 29, 2015. Surviving is-

Mr. Baker was preceded in death by two sisters, Verma Zitella and Ruby Norene Newbrough; brother, Doyle Baker and son-in-law, Gary Norman
Gene was a Master Electrician for Pittson Coal Company and later retired from Ravenswood Aluminum
He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean Conflict
Gene was an inventor, jewelry maker, and loved to build and fly radio-controlled model airplanes. He liked anything electronic, repairing TVs, and loved all gadgets. There was nothing he couldn’t fix.
Mr. Baker was a member of Faithway Baptist Church
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory on Wednesday, October 18th from 5-8pm and on Thursday, October 19th from 8am-1pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm with Pastor David Canny officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
