Ila Foreman

Ila Foreman, age 77, a resident of Philippi, passed away Monday February 12, 2024, in the Davis Medical Center in Elkins, WV. Ila was born September 26, 1946 in Canton, OH a daughter of the late James Thomas Daugherty and Elsie (Overfield) Daugherty. Ila was united in marriage on October 22, 1970 to Clair R. “Sonny” Foreman Jr. who survives at home.

Ila was a member of the Union Church of Christ. She enjoyed listening to country music her favorite artist was Loretta Lynn. She also would sing with her brothers John and Bill. Ila would make rag rugs, crotchet, and quilts. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, and playing softball. Ila was an avid steelers fan, and was very proud of her West Virginia heritage. Ila worked as a seamstress for Reidboards Inc.

Also surviving; children Lisa Foreman and companion Justin, Marty Foreman Sr. all of PA. Marcy Daugherty a niece Ila considered a daughter; grandchildren Marty Foreman Jr. and companion Cheyenne of Weirton, Avery Foreman and companion Brie of PA, step granddaughter Taylor Kolesar of PA; great grandchildren, Jaxson and Colt Foreman of Weirton; Siblings Shirley Shockey and husband Lloyd of Lodi, OH, William “Bill” Daugherty and wife Wilma, Ernie Daugherty and wife Barb, Henry Daugherty and wife Shelia, John Daugherty of Philippi, Tressie Turtle of Buckhannon, several nieces, nephews, and a large extended family; and her feline companion Toot.

Ila was preceded by siblings, Don Daugherty, James Daugherty, and Agnes Saffle.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi, on Saturday February 17, from 11am- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm with Pastor Rodney Nulph officiating. Interment will follow in the Pitman Cemetery.
