I used to work with James and his sons Dan and Robert I had been on a job at one place and they called me to go to the mine they were at and after getting to the mine they asked me to take a new guy under with me and get him working with us well the new guy had all new boots belt hard hat and cover alls just like a federal mine inspector so before we get to where the rest of the crew was I talked this guy into playing along and asking to see everyone’s cards and checking their rescuers and why no one had safety glasses on and on and on then finally the new guy busted out laughing and told the guys what was really happening ..well james didn’t find it too funny and told me he should roll me around in the dirt for a while to teach me a lesson and I said sure old man lol then I turned and started laughing ….well that was a mistake …before I knew what was happening he was on my back had me in a choke hold and rolled me like a child in front of the whole crew …..after that when I called him old man it was with a respectful tone lol…..he was a good worker if anything was wrong or dangerous he’d be the first man to speak up about it no matter to who and he’d be the first man to get it fixed …even though I ribbed him for driving that old Subaru he was always good to me and I’m damn proud to have known and worked with him and his sons …it’s crazy that one of the fondest memories I have of James is him choking me almost unconscious ,,,i can’t imagine what his close friends and family are going through and to them I am truly sorry for your loss….I’m sorry this was so long I just wanted to share a good memory of a great man .

So sorry, Vanessa, about your Grandpa.. I saw his picture, and realized I have waited on him in the past, several times. He was a very nice, kind man!! My sympathy to your Grandma and all the Family too. God Bless..
