James “Jim” Nebraska Wagner, age 79, a resident of Galloway, passed away Wednesday June 1, 2022 in the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. Jim was born April 12, 1943 in Barbour County a son of the late Loring Nebraska Wagner and Bessie Jane (Wine) Wagner. Jim was united in marriage to his wife of 45 years Marylou Jean Wagner who preceded him in death March 13, 2022. Also surviving is daughter Debbie Haddix and husband Randy of Buckhannon, grandchildren Justin Luff, Jenny Luff and companion Johnathan Evix, Joshua Haddix and wife Brittanni, and Andy Haddix, great grandchildren, Shelby Luff, Bella Sites, Lauren Evix, Marshal Evix, Ashley Luff, Joshua, Allen, and Matt Haddix. Sister Ruby McDonald an husband Roy of Belington, Freda Lake and husband Cecil of Philippi, Paul Wagner of Decatur, TX, nieces and nephews, Melody Simmons and husband Donald, Anita Simmons and husband Joey, Tim McDonald and wife Brenda, Cecila Lake and companion Phil Haller, Sunny Lake and companion John Cutright, several great nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by brother, Frank Wagner, daughter Donna Luff, son-in-law Todd Luff, granddaughter Megan Luff, and nephew Matt Lake. Jim worked for Pittsburgh Plate, and became a coal miner having worked as Badger Coal Company, Sago Mines, and Philippi Sentinel Mines. Jim was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, American Legion Post #44 where he assisted with several funeral honors for fallen soldiers, Masonic Lodge in Flemington. Jim loved sport, he enjoyed watching baseball, basketball and football, he was an avid WVU fan and never missed a home game until his health failed and wasn’t able to attend. Jim adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and never knew a stranger.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home and Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday June 4, from 6-8 pm and on Sunday June 5, from 8am- 2 pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm. Interment will follow in the Pitman Cemetery with military honors being accorded by the US Army and American Legion Post #96.
