Josephine Mae (Abernathy) Sell, age 96, a former resident of Philippi, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in Lancaster, OH.

She was born on May 5, 1915 in Preston County, a daughter of the late Arthur and Ida C. (Wotring) Abernathy.

She was united in marriage to Otis E. Sell in 1935 and they moved to Barbour County in 1953. Mr. Sell preceded her in death on January 5, 1976. In 1996, Josephine relocated to Ohio to be closer to her daughter and family.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Sinsel and husband James Sinsel of Grand Blanc, MI, and Sandra Cassady of Lancaster, OH; three granddaughters, Amy Jo (Joseph) Michtich of Harrisonburg, VA, Traci (Wayne) Bunce of Canal Winchester, OH and Terri (Greg) Eads of Lancaster, OH; six, adorable great-grandchildren, Danica Cassady, Chloe Bunce, Evan and Laci Jo Eads, and Michael and Luka Michtich; and a very special care-giver, Andrea.

Josephine was also preceded in death by three sisters, Pearl E. Cosner, Ruth A. Shaffer and Catherine F. Moreland; and one son-in-law, Daniel Cassady.

While residing in Barbour County, Mrs. Sell was a faithful member of the Philippian Chapel.

Family and friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The service hour will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny McLean officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

" Our Thoughts Were With You during the recent loss of your Mom too." 10-21-11 I was talking to Jimmy Lewis the day of the funeral in town and found out too late to visit. Jim was a classmate of Sandra Sell and also a classmate of my sister Sue also. We just wanted to let you know our heartfelt sympathy for your Mom. . .

I am always saden to here of the lost of a loved one. But there passing is to a better way of life. Where all things are made new again. We still miss them and can't help but greave for them. My prayers are with you. Love Don or Donnie as my family call me.

There is always some one that comes into a persons life that helps mold them into who they are and Jo was that person in my life. No matter what i did in my life she still supported me and helped get me centered back on God. I am sure that when she took her last breath she steped into the presente of God a jounery that she had been on for a long while. I know today that when i take my last breath and go to be with God i will see her agin.
