Lois Jean “Jeanie” Anglin passed away peacefully on Thursday February 22, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was surrounded by her family and caregiver.
Jeanie was born April 1, 1933 to Lawrence and Lena (Reed) Oneacre in New Martinsville, WV, where she spent most of her childhood. She graduated from Magnolia High School and then continued her education at West Virginia University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. It was during this time that she first traveled to Philippi with a roommate and met her future husband, Monzell Anglin, Jr. they married in August 1955 and shared a life together that lasted until his death in 2011. Choosing a life of a stay-at-home mom and homemaker, she raised three children. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening and following the West Viriginia Mountaineers. She formed life-long friendships and was comforted in the end by cherished friends Liz Phillips and Grace Stemple.
Jeanie is survived by her daughters Becky Lloyd and husband David, Kay Chick and husband Bill, and her son Dave Anglin, Susan Anglin; six grandchildren Matthew, Jourdan, Nathan, Amelia, Tim, and Heidi; nine great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Quinn, Torren, Nora, Theodore, Evelyn, Natalie, Veronica, and Riley; her brother Jim and wife Judy. She was preceded by her husband and brother Bob and his wife Pat.
Friends will be received at the Crim Memorial United Methodist Church 78 Pike St. Philippi, on Tuesday February 27, from 1- 3pm. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm with Pastor Sam Haught officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial contributions be made to Crim Memorial United Methodist Church 78 Pike St. Philippi or to WV Caring Hospice 519 G. Rd. Newburg, WV 26410.
