Louise Thornhill, age 85, a resident of Rt. 2 Philippi passed away Monday September 3, 2012 at her residence. She was born April 25, 1927 in Belington, WV and was reared by her foster parents Nora and Nettie Poling. She was united in marriage to her husband John D. Thornhill who preceded her in death February of 1984. Surviving is:
One daughter: Patricia L. “Patti” Thornhill of Rt. 1 Moatsville, WV
Two sons: William R. Thornhill of California
Larry G. Thornhill of Philippi
Nine grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren
Louise was preceded in death by one great granddaughter, two brothers: James and Porter Glendenning, and half sister: Bessy Monroe.
She was an homemaker and worked as a nurses aid at the Sherman Oaks Hospital in California, and the Good Samaritan Center of Barbour County for over 20 years. She loved to rake leaves in the fall, enjoyed gardening and flowers. Louise was a Baptist by Faith.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday September 5, from 6-8 pm and on Thursday September 6, from 8-11 am the service hour with Rev. Jonathan S. Crites officiating. Interment will follow in the Stringtown Cemetery in Belington.
