Lucille Virginia Phillips, 85, a resident of Philippi, WV, departed at her home on Midway road from her family and friends to be with her Savior at 8:45 a.m. on September 21, 2010. She is the daughter of the late Howard and Laura McDaniel, she was born on May 26, 1925 and on May 1, 1948 she married Estle Phillips, who preceded her in death on September 22, 2002.
Surviving are three children, Jerry Phillips and his wife Carolyn of Belington, Judy Bryant and her husband Danny of Philippi, and Jeff Phillips and his wife Joy of Philippi.
She also has ten brothers and sisters surviving, Lena Valek of Moatsville, Louise Mouser of Philippi, Luettta Pelligrim of Fairmont, Vonda Lantz of Rosewood Nursing Home, Buddy Lantz his wife Mary Jo of Moatsville, Bill and his wife Annette McDaniel of St. Cloud, FL, Dottie Nelson and her husband Ed of Strongsville, OH, Jim and his wife Judy McDaniel of Moatsville, Ira and his wife Nancy McDaniel of Philippi, and Philip his wife Diane McDaniel of Lakewood, OH. Two sister-in-laws, Agatha Schoonover of Belington and Nila Phillips of Elkins, WV.
She has seven surviving grandchildren include: Scott Cross and his wife Cindy of Philippi, Danny Bryant II of Philippi, Cheryl Hawkins and her husband John of Philippi, Brandy Phillips of Loris, SC, J.P. Phillips of Belington, Kacy King of Belington, and B.J. King of Belington.
She has ten surviving great-grandchildren, Courtney Stuart of Loris, SC, Trae Corley of West Milford, Logan Bryant of Philippi, Michael Bryant of Clarksburg, Meggan Erickson of Philippi, J.W. Hawkins of Philippi, Caleb Hawkins of Philippi, Jed Hawkins of Philippi, Caden Hawkins of Philippi, Wyatt Cross of Belington.
She also has two great-great grandchildren, Maddox Erickson of Philippi, and Kinleigh Suggs of Loris, SC surviving her.
Six brothers and sister preceded her in death, Harold McDaniel, Herbert McDaniel, Kenneth McDaniel, Donald McDaniel, Dorothy McDaniel, Scottie McDaniel.
Lucille was a homemaker and member of United Methodist Church and attended church regularly until her health and continuous battle with Alzheimer’s prevented her from leaving her home.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday, September 23, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 8-11 a.m. the service hour with Rev. Arden Beck and Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
