Mary Lou Murphy, age 89, a resident of Philippi, passed away Sunday December 31, 2023 in Mansfield Place of Broaddus Hospital. Mary was born June 3, 1934 in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Thomas O. and Beulah Blanche (Purkey) Perry. Mary was united in marriage on March 15, 1952 to Darl Edward Murphy who preceded her in death October 11, 1996.
Surviving are; Greg Murphy and wife Karen of Philippi, Cassandra Paumier and husband Marc of Canton, OH; grandchildren Amber Funk, David Murphy, Mitch Dulaney, Carlee Webley; great grandchildren Wyatt Funk, Kinslee Tenney, Dulaney Webley; sister Charlene Hamrick of Fairmont; brother Thomas A. Perry and wife Cathy of Newport News, VA; several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Beulah Perry; husband Darl Murphy; sister Juanita Starkey; brother James Perry.
Mary was a homemaker. She was a member of the Barbour County CEOS, past member of the American Legion Post #44 Ladies Auxiliary. Mary was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother to everyone.
A graveside service will he held on Wednesday January 3, at 10 am in the WV National Cemetery with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.
