Mary McCartney

Mary Elizabeth McCartney 57, of Philippi West Virginia, passed peacefully early Wednesday morning May 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 7, 1960 in Philippi West Virginia to the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Croston) McCartney.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one granddaughter; Kaitlyn Elizabeth McCartney, one sister; Eva Lynn McCartney, and two brothers; Charles Croston and Waitman McCartney.

She is survived by her 3 loving children; Joseph Wayne McCartney; Regina Ann Croston (her fiancé Preston Smith); and Timothy Lee (Bethany) Croston all of Philippi WV. As well as, one brother: Troy (Arlina) McCartney; 5 sisters Alta (John) Reed; Wanda (Ricky) Swiger all of Philippi WV; Emogene (Wilmouth) Mayle of Robertsville, OH; Carolyn (Kenneth) Mayle of Canton OH; and Dana (Roger) Hawkins of Minerva,OH; 6 grandchildren: Tyler Croston, Seth Croston, Ethan Smith, Tenisha Croston, Lindsay Croston, and Makenna Croston plus many nieces and nephews.

Mary was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She also had a great love for the outdoors such as tending to her many flower gardens, fishing in her beautiful pond, and traveling in the beautiful WV mountains.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Mountain Hospice for their love and support during our difficult time.

Family and Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 4-8pm, Saturday May 27th from 2-8pm and on Sunday, May 28th from 8-11am the service hour with Rev. Ron Mayle officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Hill Cemetery.
