Ralph Lee Jones, age 79, a resident of Rt. 2 Philippi passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was born October 18, 1930 in Barbour Co. a son of the late Oscar Ray and Eva DeVere (Snider) Jones. He was united in marriage May 2, 1951 to Norma Jean (Poling) Jones who survives. Also surviving:
One daughter, Valli and husband Rocky Davis of Philippi
Two sons, Tom Jones and Mary of Mill Creek
Richard and wife Jackie Jones of Belington
One sister, Lorado Lynn Ketchem, of Rt. 4 Philippi
Nine grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren
Mr. Jones retired as a Telegraph Operator for CSX Railroad
Mr. Jones served in the U.S. Army from 1948-1952 during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #44, retired NARVA, and a member of the Belington Church of Christ.
He was a devoted WVU fan, avid ramp digger and enjoyed gardening.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 216 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Wednesday, March 17, 2009 from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday, March 18, 2009 from 8 a.m. -1 p.m. the service hour with Evangelist R.D. Ice officiating. Interment will follow in Belington Fraternal Cemetery with military honours being accorded.
