Rickey, Words can not express how much you will be missed by many including myself. I consider myself a better person for knowing you and having the honor to call you friend. I have so many memories from my days at station 16 with you and everyone else and especially selling Christmas trees at this time of the year. Go rest high on that mountain and continue watching over us Rickey.

Anita Carter left a message on December 1, 2011:
I had the pleasure of orienting Rick to is orderly position at Broaddus Hospital. He was such a gentle person and so willing to learn how to care for patients. He was like a big teddy bear. During the years, we would run into each other when I was visiting in Barbour County and we always took time to chat awhile. A kinder person I don't think I have ever met. I am so glad I had the chance to know him.

Rickey- It is hard to explain how much we all miss you. I still remember my first day at Station 16. You were the first person that I met and Danny explained that if you didn't like me I was in trouble, but thank goodness you did! You have touched so many lives along your path in life. All the good you have done for the citizens of Barbour County. I know my family loved you dearly and thought of you as a father just as I did. You made me realize that life is too short to fight all of it. I am a better person, EMT, soon to be husband, and father because of you! I feel very blessed to have served with you, even if it was this short time but I am looking forward to the day when we may serve with each other once again! Gods Speed 451! You will NEVER be forgotten! Your friends, Shayne, Brenda, Alyssa, and Haylee Brown
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Rickey; There is no words that can describe the pain and heart break I feel today. We have made it through a lot of difficult times, but our friendship and love for one another has always prevailed. From dragging me through the snow to dragging me through life you were always there with a hand. I will miss you; I will see you again, have the coffee ready. You will always be "Big Daddy" to me. I love you.

Rickey, What a pleasure and honor it was to know you, work with you and call you a friend. I've spent the past couple days remembering some great times we shared. From snow ball fights, water fights, chasing Rob around station, to just having our morning coffee and sharing life stories. No matter how long it had been since we saw each other a friendly smile, hand shake and greetingS "Dr. Mayle, Dr. Wolfe" always proceeded. You have inspired me to continue with my EMS career and I promise you I'll continue taking care of our patients. Kick back, relax, enjoy your coffee and I know you will continue to watch over everyone each time those tones drop. God speed Dr. Mayle!

Well, Rickey, it's hard to come up with all the things I would like to say right now, but "thanks" is the first one that comes to mind. I've been around EMS for a while, and saw many come and go, but you were truly dedicated, and for the right reasons. The most easy going, and friendly person that staffed a unit, you set a great example. For the friendship and trust you gave me over the years, I can't thank you enough. Sorry that paths in life change, and I haven't been there as much, but I think of you a lot, and will continue to. Take care my friend, no more chest pain, thank God! Keep smiling too!

It's difficult to express in words how we feel about the loss of our good friend, Rick. To have worked with him was a treasure. Whenever we would see him, he would have a warm greeting and a smile --- and we will miss that. He was such a wonderful person to know and to work with and will never be forgotten. Carol Jo and I send our deepest condolences to Peggy and the rest of the family. Thank you, Rickey, we having been our friend.

Rickey... There are not words to express how much I miss you already. This county was blessed to have you taking care of their loved ones and I was truly blessed to be lucky enough to work with you (almost everyday) for 26 years. You were my best friend and I had the utmost respect for you. I think sometimes I hurt your feelings but I was only looking out for you and your best interests. What mattered most was the fact that at the end of the day, when the dust settled, we remained the best of friends..no matter what! The squad will never, ever be the same without you. Everyone loved you and only wanted the very best for you. Our squad family is so sad right now and it will take along time for us to come to terms with your passing. We will never forget you and for everything you did for our community. Our great loss is a great gain for Heaven because I know that's where you are now. You so deserve peace and rest as you had so little here on earth. My friend, thank you for being so good to me and my family. We all loved you. You were such a kind and gentle person and it was MY honor to have had you for my friend. Until we meet again, may God bless you and keep you forever in his loving care. Your friend, Rob
