Wilda Ruth Burner

Wilda Ruth (Jones) Burner, age 91, a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home and a former resident of Philippi, passed away Friday December 15, 2023 in Ruby Memorial Hospital. Wilda was born February 11, 1932, in Philippi, a daughter of the late Willie E. and Dora (Wagner) Jones. Wilda was united in marriage on March 1, 1951 to Donald A. Burner who preceded her in death on March 8, 1997.

Wilda attended the Union Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, reading and studying her bible. In earlier years Wilda babysat several children.

Surviving are children; Erik Burner and wife Sheryl of Romney, Kevin Burner Sr. and wife Ronda of Philippi, Dennis Burner and wife Margie of Philippi; step-son Jim Borsig and wife Kate of Southport, ME; grandchildren Erika Cornwell, Amanda Wolf and husband Mark, Kevin Burner Jr. and wife Sara, Shawn Burner, and Jayden Burner; step grandchildren Aaron Robinson and wife Kirsten, and Alisha Poling and husband Gunnar; great grandchildren Madison Blake, Landen Burner, Bella Wolf, Maddex Burner, Cooper Wolf; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Wilda was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Dora Jones; husband Donald Burner; brothers Harold Jones, Fred Jones and wife Dorothy, Jack Jones and wife Mary Alice; sisters, Imogene Burner and husband Brooks Sr., Janet Cooper and husband Don.

A Celebration of life will be held Wright Funeral Home and on-site Crematory 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Saturday February 10, at 1 pm with Speaker Danny Wagner officiating. The family will receive friends from 11am – 1pm.
