Rev. Winfield Scott Miner, age 76, a resident of West Spall Lick Rd. Philippi passed away Monday February 13, 2017 at his residence. He was born July 13, 1940 in Barbour Co. a son of the late Marion Frank and Massalona Lona (Croston) Miner. He was united in marriage on May 12, 1963 to Dottie Lou (Collins) Miner who survives at home. Also surviving
One daughter; Delores Dalton and husband Gary of Grafton
Three grandchildren; Junior Dale Collins, Joshua Dalton, Coty Dalton
One great-grandchild; Connor Foltz
Winfield was preceded in death by one son; Issac Jr. Collins, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by seven siblings; Hoyt Miner, Edward Miner, Irene Croston, Helen Croston, Francis Croston, Rosa Lee Newman, Lillian Dalton, and two infant siblings, Lester and Maxine Miner.
He worked as a coal miner and later as a truck driver having worked for Keeley Bros. in Clarksburg, Joe Benson Trucking, and WV Department of Highways. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. Winfield was the minister for Apostolic Missions of Jesus Christ Church.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home 220 N. Walnut St. Philippi on Thursday February 16, from 7-8 pm, Friday February 17, from 8 am- 8 pm, Saturday February 18, from 8 am- 2:30 pm the service hour with Rev. Menelus Mayle and Speaker Bill Berdine officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
